Note about the social media buttons:

With Shariff, you can use social media without compromising your privacy. The c't project Shariff replaces the usual share buttons of the social networks and protects your surfing behavior from prying eyes. However, a single click on the button is enough to share information with others. You do not have to do anything else - the webmaster has already taken care of everything.
The usual social media buttons transfer the user data to Facebook & Co. at every page call and give the social networks detailed information about your surfing behavior (user tracking). You do not have to log in or be a member of the network. On the other hand, a Shariff button makes the direct contact between Social Network and visitors only when the latter clicks on the Share button.
This prevents Shariff from leaving a digital track on every page you visit, and improves your data protection. Then you can liken, + 1en or tweet - as much as you like - the social network does not get more information.
The display of the "Likes" comes thanks to Shariff from the operator of the page with the buttons. Because Shariff is integrated by the webmaster, you do not have to do anything else as a visitor.

Shariff's Privacy Advantage
The common share buttons represent a considerable data protection problem because they make contact with the servers of the social networks without notice. For example, Facebook sends the number of "Likes" directly to the browser of the visitor - and logs the individual surfing behavior.
Shariff appears as an intermediary here: Instead of the browser, the server of the website operator asks the number of the Likes - and this also only once per minute, in order to keep the traffic within limits. The visitor stays anonymous.
Shariff simplifies and replaces the previous 2-click solution that was presented in c't article 2 clicks for more privacy three years ago. More information about Shariff can be found in the article Protecting and sharing, which is completely online; there is also the topic forum c't Shariff - 1 click for more data protection.

The complete article can be found on the c't:
